Site Description

Whitehead excursion station was opened in 1907. Located on the Up side at the Larne Harbour end of the station, it and the adjacent area now see use as the principal base of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland. The area contains a carriage shed, gantry, water tank, loco shed and turntable. The RPSI museum is also here, which includes a replica signal cabin on the platform.
